The Advocates

In the early to mid-1970s, David Faust was part of a group called The Advocates who worked for a ministry called Christ In Youth (CIY). The Advocates traveled around the USA (particularly the Northeastern United States) leading youth programs in churches and schools. Members of the group wrote some of their own music and recorded a couple of albums.
Dave wrote the words and music for a song called “What I Could Never Do” in the group’s first album called In Tribute, recorded in 1974. Then Dave wrote the words and music for “When I Look to You,” which was included in a second album called Images, recorded in 1975. He and a teammate, Tom Goodlet, co-wrote another song, “Not Just Something You Say,” also included in the Images album. (For this one, Dave wrote the lyrics and Tom wrote the music.)
